Parties usually arrive in Stromness on the Saturday either by Northlink ferry Hamnavoe, which leaves Scrabster arriving in Stromness.
Also the Northlink ferries Hjaltland and Hrossey sail from Aberdeen to Kirkwall.
In the summertime the Hamnavoe does additional sailings from Scrabster. Visit

to Kirkwall are daily from Inverness, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow, with
good connections from Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester.
Scotrail operate services from Inverness to Wick and Thurso. Northbound trains will require a change at Inverness and some times Edinburgh or Glasgow. Travelling from England, British Rail operates frequent services to Edinburgh, Glasgow and Perth where connections to Inverness can be found. The main roads into Scotland are M6/A74 and A1(M), follow all signs north and head for Perth, and then take the A9 to Inverness. Bypassing Inverness follow A9 signs for Wick and Thurso. The Kessock Bridge at Inverness and the new Dornoch Bridge takes hours off the old journey. At Latheron take the A895 to Thurso, then follow the signs through Thurso to Scrabster (P&O ferry terminal).
