The Dive boat M.V. Invincible operates as liveaboard or day boat, taking divers
out to the historic wrecks of Scapa Flow and the Orkney Isles. We're also
keen to offer trips to Shetland, the East Coast and as far west as St Kilda.
My self and a few like minded friends recently decided to go for a bit of
a jolly and give INVINCIBLE the ultimate test and prove her worth as a go
anywhere liveaboard dive boat. But don't worry I wont be taking you guys quite
this far !
The mission was to travel 341 miles from Stromness on a bearing of 246 degrees
across the continental shelf.
(O my God the world has just fallen in, oh well we might as well switch
the sounder off then).
And we dived at the most isolated rock anywhere in the world.
ROCKALL.
So I reckon if me and me mates can dive Rockall and play with the Porbegal
sharks way out there, I'm sure we can accommodate most of your needs.
Back row left to right, Mr Fix It Vic Young, from New Frontier Diving Mr Jeff
Keeps Wreck Researcher Mr Kevin Heath
Front row left to right, From Otter Dry suits Mr John Womack senior Then there's
me Ian Trumpess and last but not least author of the book 'Off Scotland' Mr
Ian Whitiker.
On the way back we called into St Kilda for a rest, and what a beautiful place
this is and one I fully intend to return to regularly each year, it really
does have to be one of the most stunning places in the world.
There're two good anchorages here one to the North at Glen Bay and then there's
Village Bay on the South East side where you can go ashore and take a wee
dram at the most westerly pub in the British Isles the 'Puff Inn'.
A very unique place to visit and dive.
We normally cater for groups of up to 12 divers for six days and seven nights.
Diving usually commencing on the Sunday and finishing on the Friday with divers
arriving and leaving on the Saturday.
Liveaboard charters are generally on a self catering basis although we can
provide the big breakfast and even full board for expedition purposes.
We can and will cater for the smaller groups and individual bookings, be it
liveaboard or day boat, but please note that unless you book the boat as a
whole we do reserve the right to fill the boat as we see fit, as where If
you book the boat for the week then the boat is yours for that week, and we
will not fill any empty spaces without your consent.
We also provide you with lead weights but please bring your own straps, and
of course two dives per day. A third dive can be arranged, but is not included
in the package and comes as an extra, if you want to do a third dive then
just ask on the day for a price, you never know I might be feeling generous.
We also provide 12X12 litre cylinders and all the Air fills are free of charge.
Nitrox and Trimix are pumped on board but are not included in the package.
Nitrox fills start at £5.00 and increase at a rate of 1.2p per litre of oxygen added.

Trimix is somewhat more expensive, and is charged at a rate of 2.5p per
litre of helium added to the mix.
Rebreathers are more than welcome, I have one my self and a lovely thing it
is too.
A typical day in Scapa Flow would start by leaving the pier at around 8am
the first dive being about one hour away giving you ample time for cereal,
tea and toast etc. Being one of the first boats on site you would be entering
the water at around 9am after which the Big Breakfast awaits you onboard,
you really shouldn't need to eat for the rest of the day.
All the wrecks within the flow are usually shotted, and within an hours steam
from Stromness.
I should say here that we strongly advise the use of some sort of SMB, of
course your are welcome to use the shot line if you can find it, but if you
can't well I won't go in to the possibilities of that one.
After your most excellent dive the boat will come and pick you up. We usually
take a couple of hours for lunch before your second dive, and are usually
finished and back in Stromness for about 5pm, but there are no hard and fast
rules on this one as this is just an example of an average day in Scapa Flow.
